Graham Media Group Names Phil Brooks as Vice President of Technology

DETROIT, MI – September 15, 2025 — Graham Media Group today announced the appointment of Phil Brooks as Vice President of Technology, reporting to Stephanie Slagle, Chief Innovation Officer. In this executive role, Phil will lead the integration of broadcast and digital systems into a cohesive technology strategy designed to support the company’s shift to streaming-first, 24/7 news delivery and strengthen support for station newsrooms across all markets.

“Local journalism depends on reliable, modern technology. Phil brings hands-on leadership across newsroom workflows, automation and disaster recovery that we need to move quickly and safely,” said Stephanie Slagle, Chief Innovation Officer. “He’s a practical builder who understands stations, editorial workflows, and the engineering discipline required to scale across markets.”

Phil joins Graham Media Group from Scripps Media, where he served as Director of Engineering and Strategy and led group-wide initiatives to modernize newsroom and production workflows and develop resilient disaster recovery capabilities. Throughout his career, Phil has overseen engineering teams, led master control and automation rollouts, and driven cross-market technology projects that prioritize newsroom needs. In his role at Graham Media Group, Phil will:

  • Lead the integration of broadcast and digital technologies into a unified, strategic tech vision

  • Modernize systems supporting news production and multi-platform delivery, including CMS, NRCS, playout, and graphics

  • Collaborate across editorial, engineering, and station leadership to standardize and simplify tools and workflows

  • Build the foundation for an expanded, unified technology organization while maintaining continuity at local stations.

“I’m excited to join Graham Media Group and work with stations to deliver better tools for journalists and faster, more resilient news distribution for communities,” Brooks said. “My focus is simple: empower newsroom teams with technology that works, scales, and puts journalism first.”
