Position Summary
Fourgrounds, WDIV's community journalism initiative in partnership with Great Lakes Coffee, seeks a Fourgrounds Field Reporter to serve as an on-site editorial presence at its Plymouth location. This individual will be responsible for identifying, capturing, and producing original human-interest content sourced directly from patron interactions, coordinating select in-store events, and serving as a direct line between Fourgrounds and WDIV's newsroom for stories warranting broader coverage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain a consistent, professional on-site presence during scheduled shifts to engage patrons and identify story opportunities.
Conduct on-camera and print interviews with community members, applying sound journalistic interviewing technique.
Produce short-form multimedia content (video, photo, written copy) suitable for publication across digital and social platforms.
Support planning and on-site coordination of Fourgrounds events.
Serve as the primary liaison between Fourgrounds and WDIV's newsroom, escalating and funneling larger story leads as appropriate.
Ensure all content adheres to WDIV editorial guidelines, brand standards, and Graham Media Group content policies.
Maintain professional decorum reflective of WDIV's on-air standards, given the customer-facing and brand-representative nature of the role.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or related field required; current college students actively pursuing a degree in journalism or a related field will also be considered.
Minimum 2 years' professional experience in journalism, content production, or broadcast media (or equivalent coursework/internship experience for students).
Demonstrated proficiency in multimedia production (videography, photography, editing software).
Strong portfolio of published work required for consideration.
Excellent interpersonal and on-camera communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior on-air or on-camera broadcast experience.
Familiarity with the Plymouth/Metro Detroit community.
Experience working within a corporate brand and editorial style guide.
Event planning or coordination experience.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid retail/editorial role requiring extended periods of standing, direct public engagement, and flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends as business needs dictate.
