Vice President & General Manager, KPRC - Houston
Jerome P. (Jerry) Martin was named Vice President & General Manager of KPRC-TV Local 2 (NBC) in Houston in January 2011. Under Martin’s leadership, the station is undergoing the construction of a brand new, state-of-the-art media complex that will open its doors in early 2017.
Since his arrival, KPRC has risen to become a leader in both ratings and revenue in a highly competitive market. He strongly believes in celebrating the local community, spearheading initiatives for the station to sponsor and build a Habitat for Humanity home annually and creating a Senior Scholarship fund for deserving local students.
Martin also sits on the board for the Texas Association of Broadcasters, the Houston Area Urban League, Goodwill of Houston and the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Before moving to Houston, Martin served as Vice President & General Manager at WXIN-TV (Fox59) and WTTV-TV (Indiana’s 4), Indianapolis, from 2004-2011. In Indianapolis, Martin served as the Chair of Indianapolis Urban League and The Fox Board of Governors, and was on the board of the Indiana Broadcasters Association.
From 2000-2004, Martin served as Vice President & General Manager of WBDC-TV (WB50), Washington, and also at WTIC-TV, Hartford, CT. from 1997 to 2000, While in Hartford he also worked under a local management agreement with Tiberius Broadcasting, WTXX-TV, Waterbury, CT.
Previously, Martin served as general sales manager of WTIC from 1993 to 1997 and of WTXX from 1992 to 1993. Earlier positions include national sales manager at KTXL-TV, Sacramento, CA, from 1987 to 1991; and account executive at Petry Television, from 1984 to 1987 and at WJAR-TV, Providence, RI, from 1980 to 1984.
Martin is a graduate of University of Maine with a BS in Business Administration.
